About Me

Crafting Cosplay Magic One Stitch at a Time

Hi there! My name’s Amanda, and if there's one thing to know about me, it's that I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember. My journey started with a lot of trial and error (trust me, there were a lot of failed attempts!), but I finally found my groove after using commercial patterns as a teenager. Eventually, something just clicked, and I learned how to tailor designs to fit my body. But the real turning point came when I started doing alterations for others. Working as a costumer for high school musicals was where my skills truly took shape. I loved the challenge of making the same outfit work for 10 to 15 different people. Each body is unique, and I’ve always found it incredibly rewarding to make costumes that fit everyone perfectly.

Cosplay Favorites and Dream Projects
Currently, my favorite cosplay is my Mimikyu Gijinka. It’s one of those costumes where I feel like I got all the little details just right. Plus, it’s super comfortable, which is always a win. That said, I’m always dreaming about my next big project. When Monster Hunter Wilds comes out, I’m sure I’ll be obsessing over recreating one of the new armors. Cosplaying my favorite game characters brings so much joy, and I’m excited to dive into my next challenge!

Outside of Cosplay: Meet Neil, Ozzy, and My Creative Hobbies
When I’m not sewing, I’m usually making something. I’m a bit of a creative multitasker—I knit, spin my own yarn, and love caring for my two French angora rabbits, Neil and Ozzy. They’ve got the fluffiest fur, and taking them for walks in their stroller is one of my favorite things to do. It’s just as cute as it sounds!

Learning how to spin on a spinning wheel has been a game-changer for me, and now, making my own yarn is one of the most relaxing things I do. There’s something meditative about it, and I love the process of creating something from scratch.

I also love playing video games, but I’m a bit of a serial monogamist when it comes to gaming—I play one at a time and don’t move on until I’ve finished. 13 Sentinels is next on my list, and I’m hoping to dive into it this winter.

My Favorite Tools and Materials
When it comes to my sewing process, I like to keep things simple and effective. I always do my toiles and mock-ups in 50/50 cotton-polyester broadcloth. It’s my absolute go-to—it doesn’t fray, it presses well, and best of all, I can write all over it with a sharpie. It’s my little workhorse fabric, and I use it constantly when testing new designs.

Why I Love the Cosplay Community
One of my favorite things about being a part of the cosplay and sewing community is connecting with other people who share the same passion. There’s something special about spending time with fellow creators, geeking out over costumes, games, and crafting techniques. It’s such a supportive and inspiring space to be in.

Why I Create Sewing Patterns
I create sewing patterns because I want others to feel the same excitement I do when making costumes come to life. After years of making alterations and tweaking patterns, I understand how important it is to get the fit just right, especially for cosplayers of all sizes. My patterns are designed to be accessible, fun, and flexible so anyone can feel confident making their dream costume.

Thanks for stopping by and getting to know a bit more about me! Whether you're a seasoned cosplayer or just starting out, I’m here to share my passion for sewing and help you create something truly magical. Let’s keep stitching together!
