I’m excited to share the details of my Mimikyu Gijinka cosplay, a blend of Mimikyu and a character named Pico from Rune Factory 4. This costume was a labor of love, with tons of handcrafted elements. The wig has a sewn-in blonde weft for extra flair, and the shoes were thrifted but heavily customized with lace panels.
The prop tail is EVA foam around a PVC pipe, with resin details. My favorite piece, the hat, features an embroidered face and EVA foam base. The outer dress and underskirt are filled with lace and ruffles, all constructed to be comfortable and durable. With no exposed seams, the costume is washable and ready for repeated weIar.
My inspiration came from Mimikyu’s disguise-breaking ability, a perfect metaphor for a cosplay that requires constant repair and attention. I’m thrilled with how this mashup came out and can’t wait to wear it again at Bakkencon!
